Ultherapy®
The Ultherapy® procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer that are typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. This is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of gravity on your skin.
The technology behind Ultherapy® uses ultrasound (soundwaves) to make small, hot spots which trigger a natural response under the skin, jump starting the regenerative process that produces fresh, new collagen. This causes the skin to contract and tighten and non-invasively lift the eyebrow, neck, jawline, and under the chin. With the addition of the new Ultherapy® Décolletage Treatment, Ultherapy is also now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest. And this is all accomplished with little to no downtime.

What Others Are Saying
Absolutely thrilled with my results. So very nice and professional...will definitely recommend and be back for more services.
Listened to what I wanted and made it happen. I would highly recommend Boise Image!
Best ever results seemed instant. For me, pretty painless. They are total rockstars at putting me at ease.
Made sure I was totally comfortable and contrary to what I'd heard, the treatment was very tolerable. The next day no pain, bruising, or noticeable swelling. I appreciate their excellent technique and care and concern for their patients. I recommend Boise Image to anyone considering an Ultherapy treatment.
Ultherapy® vs. Laser Treatments
Ultherapy® uses sound energy which allows it to pass through the surface of the skin to treat the foundational layers of the skin that other non-invasive cosmetic devices cannot reach. Ultherapy® ultrasound stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over 2-3 months.
Lasers and lights rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers at an optimal temperature, so laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin. Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they’re actually very compatible.

Ultherapy® Treatment Details
Ultherapy® treatment time varies depending on the area being treated. Face and neck procedures take approximately 90 minutes, while the chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. There is no downtime after this procedure. You can resume normal activities immediately with no special post-treatment measures.
After your Ultherapy® treatment, you may see some initial effect, but the full results will start taking place as your body naturally generates collagen over a two-to-three-month period. This collagen-building process can continue up to six months, where some individuals see the full result. Since the procedure stimulates natural collagen production, results last for different lengths depending on each individual. While the treatment produces new collagen on the inside, the natural aging process often dictates how long the new collagen’s effects last on someone’s outer appearance.
Most patients only need one Ultherapy® treatment. However, based on the looseness of the skin, responsiveness to ultrasound energy, and individual collagen-building process, some patients benefit from additional treatments. Because skin continues to age, many patients take advantage of touch-up treatments to renew their results and keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.

Ultherapy FAQ
What is Ultherapy and how does it work?
Ultherapy is a non-surgical treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to lift and tighten skin. The energy passes through the surface of the skin and reaches the deeper foundational layer, the same layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, without any cutting. This triggers your body’s own collagen and elastin production, which firms and lifts the skin gradually over the following months.
Does Ultherapy hurt?
Most patients describe Ultherapy as tolerable rather than painful. You will feel heat and a tingling sensation in short bursts as the ultrasound energy is delivered, which tells you the treatment is reaching the right depth. Comfort varies by treatment area, with bonier areas feeling more intense. Our providers offer comfort options and adjust settings throughout, and many patients tell us it was easier than they expected.
How long does an Ultherapy treatment take?
Face and neck treatments take approximately ninety minutes. Chest and décolletage treatments take approximately thirty minutes. Your provider will confirm the timing at your complimentary assessment once your treatment plan is set, since time varies with the number of areas being treated.
Is there any downtime after Ultherapy?
There is no downtime after Ultherapy. You can return to work, exercise, and your normal routine straight away with no special aftercare required. Some patients notice mild redness or slight swelling for a few hours, and occasionally tenderness or a tingling sensation in the treated area for several days. Makeup can be applied immediately.
How soon will I see results from Ultherapy?
Most patients see the full result two to three months after treatment. Ultherapy works by stimulating your body to build new collagen, which is a gradual biological process rather than an immediate change. Some patients notice an initial tightening effect straight away, and collagen production can continue improving the result for up to six months.
How long do Ultherapy results last?
Ultherapy results typically last around a year, though this varies considerably between individuals. The new collagen your body produces is real and lasting, but your skin continues to age around it, which is what determines how long the visible result holds. Many of our patients in Boise schedule a maintenance treatment annually to stay ahead of that process.
How many Ultherapy treatments will I need?
Most patients need only one Ultherapy treatment to see their result. Some benefit from a second treatment, usually where skin laxity is more advanced or where the individual response to ultrasound energy is less pronounced. Your provider will give you an honest assessment at your consultation rather than committing you to a package upfront.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
Ultherapy suits people with mild to moderate skin laxity who want a noticeable lift without surgery or downtime. It is safe for all skin types and skin tones, which is not true of every energy-based treatment. It is generally not the right choice for significantly loose or heavily sagging skin, where a surgical option gives a better result. The most reliable way to know is a complimentary medical assessment.
Is Ultherapy the same as a facelift?
No. Ultherapy treats the same deep foundational layer that a facelift addresses, but it will not reproduce facelift results. It is a non-invasive option for people who are not ready for surgery, and it is also used by patients who want to extend the results of surgery they have already had. If a facelift would genuinely serve you better, our providers will tell you.
What is the difference between Ultherapy and laser or radiofrequency skin tightening?
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy, which reaches deeper layers than light or radiofrequency can. Lasers rely on light energy and mainly treat the surface and upper layers of the skin, which is why they excel at tone, texture, pigment, and redness but are not FDA-cleared to lift skin. The two work on different problems, which is why we often combine them.
Can Ultherapy be combined with other treatments?
Yes, and it usually is. Ultherapy addresses skin laxity, so it pairs naturally with treatments that address other signs of aging: wrinkle relaxers for movement lines, dermal fillers for lost volume, and skin resurfacing for tone and texture. Our providers build combination plans rather than treating one concern in isolation, which is how our Signature Looks are designed.
How much does Ultherapy cost in Boise?
Ultherapy at Boise Image Enhancement Centre typically ranges from $400 to $2000
depending on the areas treated. Cost varies with the size and number of treatment areas, which is why we quote after a complimentary medical assessment rather than over the phone. Financing options are available.
