PDO Thread Nonsurgical Lift
PDO (polydioxanone) threads are threads used to lift and tighten skin without any cuts or incisions. Extremely versatile, they can be used in many parts of the upper body, such as the face, jaw, neck, décolletage areas. PDO Threads are also effective on the lower body, such as the abdomen, buttocks, and knees.

About NovaThreads® PDO Threads
All Novathreads® are made of polydioxanone (PDO). PDO threads were used in biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery, because they can be fully absorbed within four to six months without any scar tissue. PDO itself stimulates collagen synthesis and the skin structure created will hold for another 12 to 15 months.
These threads produce a response in our body that causes it to create our own collagen which will help to keep the lift in place, even after the threads dissolve. They are inserted with a needle, similar to filler injections. Many times, the placement of the threads will be combined with filler injections for optimal results.
Recently, celebrities have received specialized PDO thread treatments around the eyes to create the fox eye thread lift. We are proud to be the only Boise-area medical spa who can safely provide this result.

NovaThreads® Procedure Details
The NovaThreads® PDO procedure is a short procedure typically lasting 30 to 60 minutes. At the start of the procedure, the face is cleansed and prepared for the PDO thread injections. We pride ourselves on offering the best accommodations for our patients, and have a variety of topical numbing and local anesthetic at this time to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
Once the procedure is ready to begin, one of our premier medical injectors will plot out the precise treatment areas with removable pen. Then, the threading process begins. The PDO thread is inserted into the skin with a thin, hollow cannula. Once injected, the thread grabs at loose tissue inside of the skin, which will reposition and tighten as the cannula is removed.
NovaThreads® PDO Threads Benefits
A beautiful and healthy face has a “V-shape”. With the aging of tissues and the action of gravity, this shape gets lost. The idea behind the Nova-Mesh and the Nova-Lyft technique is to either create a scaffolding in order to support the tissues and keep them in the “V-shape” or, where necessary, to delicately lift the tissues and reposition the skin to recreate the “V-shape” where it’s been lost. NovaThreads® may be perfect for you for three reasons: it stimulates collagen, recreates structure, and can aid in skin tightening.
NovaThreads® PDO Thread Types
Boise Image offers two different types of NovaThreads®. We use smaller threads to create a scaffold for your own body to develop collagen around the threads. Also, we may choose to use the lifting threads to gently lift the skin to provide a smooth, subtle lift where your skin may be sagging.
