Microneedling
The Microneedling procedure, sometimes called collagen induction therapy (CIT), uses a small tool with a varying number of very small needles, usually 15 to 25, with each needle smaller than the width of a human hair. The needle length adjusts, depending on the treatment area and thickness of the skin. When applied to the skin, it creates controlled, microscopic spots that are usually invisible to the naked eye. The micro-injuries initiate the skin’s repair process which naturally produces collagen in the affected area and can strengthen the epidermis.
Microneedling addresses signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as skin problems like acne scars, thinning or crepey skin, and stretch marks. Microneedle therapy is minimally invasive, causing thousands of microscopic corrective spots across the treatment area. These spots rapidly induce the body’s natural healing factors, sending collagen and elastin to repair and rejuvenate the skin. Types of Microneedling Treatments
There are multiple variations of Microneedling. At Boise Image Enhancement Centre, we provide a depth for these corrective spots that only medical practitioners are licensed to achieve. This provides a much better correction with faster results, often resulting in a need for fewer treatments over time to achieve your desired results.
Growth Factor Microneedling
Applying a topical treatment during Microneedling allows the products to penetrate deeply into the skin, enhancing its efficacy and allowing for more even distribution of the product. We can use a plant-derived growth factor (growth factor microneedling) or cells from your own body to help increase healing and collagen production.
Microneedling Treatment Overview
While the procedure has minimal discomfort, a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the start of the treatment to lessen any possible pain. You will be able to return to your normal activities as soon as you would like. Your skin may be pink or red immediately after your treatment, but the downtime is minimal, usually 1-3 days. You may use makeup the day after your treatment if you wish. Within a few days, you will begin to notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and tone. Most clients will get the best results with a series of three treatments done at four to six-week intervals.
