There four major types of wrinkle relaxer: Botox^® Cosmetic from Allergan, Dysport® from Galderma, Jeuveau™ from Evolus, and Xeomin^® from Merz Aesthetics.

The four wrinkle relaxer types are variations of botulinum toxin, and all three act similarly in most patients.

Absolutely. The original FDA-approved use for Botox^® Cosmetic, Dysport^®, and Xeomin^® is for use in between the eyebrows to remove the “11 lines” (also known as the glabella or frown lines). Botox in the glabella is where it all started, and we at Boise Image can expertly reduce or completely remove the appearance of your frown lines.

Wrinkle relaxers cannot be injected into the cheek. By looking for cheek botox^® you may be looking for cheek injections, which are cheek fillers.

Wrinkle relaxers are primarily used to stop or reduce wrinkles created by repetitive facial movement, which is most needed in the glabella (11 lines), forehead, and around the eyes. Injecting wrinkle relaxer in the cheeks can be counterproductive, not to mention dangerous.

The cheeks usually do not have problems with wrinkles. Instead, the cheeks lose volume as we age, which makes us look older. Thus, we use cheek fillers to restore volume to the cheeks for a more youthful face.

While wrinkle relaxers should not be injected in the cheek, we can use them for facial slimming by injecting into the jaw. Injecting wrinkle relaxers into the masseter muscle gently slims the face over time. Wrinkle relaxer jaw injections can also alleviate symptoms of jaw clenching and TMJ.

Our providers do a minimum of 20-30 botox^® units per standard area. Just like you wouldn’t lick a Tylenol for pain relief, getting only a few units of wrinkle relaxer injected into the forehead or glabella is not going to achieve the result most are looking for.

Many of our longtime patients specially request a large, yet safe amount of wrinkle relaxer units, as we’ve found that the larger the dose, the longer the results typically last.

Wrinkle relaxer costs vary depending on the preference and experience of the injector.

We strongly suggest staying away from providers who advertise “cheap botox”, as we have had many patients come in who have bad experiences with unlicensed or poorly-trained injectors. When it comes to wrinkle relaxers, you do get what you pay for.

The Wrinkle Relaxer cost at Boise Image is based on how many units you receive. All of our premier injectors are medically-licensed and highly-trained, but we can  respect your budget and can make a beauty plan based on your needs. We also are able to finance your treatments through CareCredit for your convenience.

Wrinkle relaxers in the forehead, or in any area, lasts about 3-4 months. There are many factors that go into how long these last, but many of our patients have experienced that a larger dose makes a longer-lasting result.
