CoolSculpting^® Procedure Details

CoolSculpting^® uses uniquely shaped handpieces that fit on the area of fat you would like to remove.

First, the fat is gently vacuumed into the handpiece. Then, the handpiece cools to a freezing temperature. Within 35 minutes, fat cells in the area are so frozen that they will die, while the other tissues remain safely untouched.

Then, the body breaks down and flushes out the frozen fat cells for three to four months. During this time, patients can see up to 20-25% reduction of fat in that area, and start seeing changes in the mirror.

The variety of handpiece shapes allows CoolSculpting^® to be tailored for almost any area on the body across several different body types. Since there is no surgery required, there are very little potential complications with CoolSculpting^®. For those patients needing additional fat reduction, repeat sessions are safe and effective.

How does CoolSculpting® freeze fat away?

Fat cells are much more fragile to cold temperatures than other cells. When CoolSculpting^® introduces cold temperatures to an area, the fat cells are permanently damaged while the rest of the cells in the area are unaffected. The body then naturally flushes the damaged fat cells over a period of two to four months, resulting in up to a 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated area.

How many treatments does it take for CoolSculpting® to be effective?

Generally we see that an area needs at least 2 CoolSculpting^® treatments per area over a short period of time to create the best results. This may differ depending on your customized treatment plan.
